Lady with Lapdog
Pendant
Skill level: advanced Toolbox: • 28 dark blue crystals (size 6/0) • 22 blue-green faceted beads • 1 dark blue round faceted bead (size 3/0 to 2/0) • Golden seed beads • Nylon thread (size B) • Silk lace • Beading needle (if you wish) Step 1 (base). Cut 48 inches long piece of thread. Place four seed beads and four faceted beads in the middle of the thread (interchange the beads). Make the first set and secure the threads inside the fourth seed bead. Then add one faceted bead and one seed bead to one thread and three faceted beads and two seed beads (interchanging them) to the other thread. Cross the threads inside the last seed bead and continue working clockwise.
Step 2 (flowered patterns). Add flowers to the base in the same direction, using 24 faceted beads. If the thread does not go through the bead hole, let it go under the previous threads. To accomplish, pull one thread through the upper neighboring faceted bead at the inner side of the square base. The thread ends should be coming out on different sides of this bead. Step 3 (central pattern). Add one crystal to each end of the thread. Then put the thread ends together and thread one seed bead, one large round bead and one more seed bead. Pull two thread ends apart and again add one crystal to each end of the thread. Cross the threads inside the faceted bead on the opposite side of the square. One thread should be coming out of the neighboring pattern. Tie the threads together and leave the tails free. Step 4 (beaded lace-like edging). Cut another 24 inches long piece of thread. Bring one end of the thread through the seed bead of the petal. Secure the other end with the help of a piece of adhesive tape. Thread nine seed beads and pull the thread through two medial seed beads of the pattern. Back the thread into the last bead of the completed portion and add eight more seed beads. Bring the thread through the marginal seed bead of the pattern and continue working circle-wise, adding eight new seed beads each time. Pull the thread through the next-to-last seed bead of the upper petal and add twelve seed beads to make pendant loop. Back the thread into the forth bead of the completed portion and add four more seed beads. Bring the thread through the perimeter into the last seed bead and add seven more beads. Link the `lace` (the thread should be coming out of the first bead on this thread). Step 5 (finishing). Take out all the slack between the beads. Tie the threads together at the reverse side of the pendant. Secure the threads and cut off the tails. Hang your pendant onto a silk lace. |
